Near the coastal highway to Santiago, lies Fray Jorge National Park, a green oasis in the middle of the desert. They say, it's a relict forest from the last ice age. And indeed, the ascending clouds from the Humboldt sea current produce a very moist and chilly micro climate underneath the treetops. Fortunately, the panoramic walking trail is only 30 minutes long and you can warm up in the sun as soon as you step out of the cloud forest.
